“Zero-emissions” Mission

Context
The IMO (International Maritime Organization) established ambitious goals for the maritime sector, getting to zero CO2 emissions by 2050. This means that the industry has to re-invent itself and its infrastructure, which can be achieved only if all the involved stakeholders collaborate.

Process
We worked with The Value Web and World Bank, together with the Mexican Embassy in London, to plan and facilitate three online sessions, in substitution of a workshop that was supposed to be happening in London, postponed due to the pandemic. The online version had to meet its goals in an effective way, with no digital stress for participants.

Solution
During three virtual sessions we gathered about 30 policy makers, facilitating and visualizing their work, with the goal of assessing the impact of three fundamental aspects of the emissions reduction process in the maritime industry: impact on states, “barriers” and opportunities for development. The timing of the sessions was specifically designed to involve simultaneously participants located in the US, Europe and Asia: a true, engaging, global collaboration.
