How can social practice change cultural initiatives?
Context
The Education Department of Manifesta Biennial, at its 12th edition organised a 2-day meeting with case studies and interactive sessions. The purpose was to discuss a series of topics, such as the complexity faced in the specific context of the hosting city (Palermo, Italy) and Manifesta’s own methodology and identity.
Process
We supported the Education Department in the weeks before the meeting, helping them scan the interrelated experiences co-created with local professionals and institutions. The final objective of the process was presenting all this with a visual, under the big lens of the Department cross-edition goals.
Solution
The result of the main process is the Education Map, a unifying visual representing the constellation of projects and activities, and their complexity across three levels: general Goals of the Department, projects of Manifesta 12, and challenges faced. We were also present at the meeting making live visual summaries of the case studies, workshops and conversations, highlighting critical questions and the learning lessons.
