Graphic Facilitation course
Context
We invited curious people and professionals from different fields, from coaching to graphic design and facilitation of collaborative processes, to illustrate the first steps to make in the world of graphic facilitation (GF) and our methodology when visualizing concepts and ideas.
Process
We started by agreeing on a series of definitions, both GF specific and broader, such as “design”, “listening” and “mapping”. We then studied different contents (written fables, stories on audiobooks, presentations and conversations) to apply the knowledge acquired on GF and, at the same time, the practical skills such as good lettering, iconic illustration, diagrams, linking elements and a systemic approach to space. Finally, we deepened our understanding of active listening and meaningful creation, also with the help of models.
Solution
Giving participants an overview of our method, we also had the chance to explore the deepest reasons that make graphic facilitation unique among the techniques of simplification of collaborative processes, one of them being “making the invisible visible”.
