Data Protection in Humanitarian Action

Context
Protecting individuals’ personal data is an integral part of protecting their life and dignity. This issue is especially relevant for humanitarian organizations: we collaborated with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on its Handbook on Data Protection in Humanitarian Action, realizing a series of short animations to be used as an introduction to the main chapters of the publication.

Process
Analyzing the selected Handbook chapters, we started synthesizing the contents in a visual way, trying to convey three key elements for each topic: definition, possible use and challenges.

Solution
Six short animations on the main topics: Data Analytics, Drones, Biometrics, Cash Transfer Programming, Cloud Services and Mobile Messaging Apps. We also realized a video-trailer for both the first and second edition of the Handbook.
